New Yorgi Eesti Majas on käimas suurem ehitusprojekt, alumise korruse ümberehitus.
Projekt polnud plaanitud, vaid me olime sunnitud seda tegema, kui avastasime, et baari põrand on vajunud. Järgnevad uuringud näitasid, et olukord on ohtlik, talad olid läbi mädanenud ning see nõudis terve alumise korruse ümberehitust.
Eelarve selle projekti jaoks oli $200 000.-
Palju tööd selle projektiga on juba tehtud-lammutustööd ja talade ümbervahetus, plaanid uue ehituse jaoks on valmis ning ehitus algjärgus. Töö käib kogu aeg, kuid tundub, et eelarve ületatakse.

Aastaid tagasi oli kohalikel eestlastel kombeks ise "käed külge lüüa". Praegusel ajal on vabatahtlikke raskem leida - elu kiirem, töökohustusi rohkem.
Aga paljudel meist on nüüd parem elujärg ja suuremad võimalused. Seda arvestades palume Teil annetada ja toetada NY Eesti Maja oma rahalise annetusega.

Dear Friend of the NY Estonian House,
The NY Estonian House has a major ongoing project, " Project 2007-2008", the reconstruction of the ground floor.
This project was not actually, but forced upon us by the fortuitous finding in September 2006 that the floor of the Bar was sinking.
Furter evaluation revealed a dangerous situation requiring the reconstruction of the entire bottom floor.
The preliminary estimate for this project was $200 000.-
Much of the work - replacement of support beams, plans for the space, and the start of actual construction, has taken place.
Although this work has been done, it appears that the scope of the project will require additional funds.
We need your help!
years ago, local Estonians had more time available, and were able to personally pitch in to get things done. It`s much more difficult to find volunteers these days - life is more complicated, everyone has more work, more responsibilities.
All the same time, manu of us are in a much better financial position than our parents were.
We therefore ask you to open your heart, and your checkbook, to support our wothwhile project.
